Work from the workshop
Every piece we show here began as a conversation with a homeowner about what they needed, continued through a site visit and a measured drawing, and finished as solid oak or ash fitted into their home. We work one commission at a time, at a pace that lets us get it right.
Fitted wardrobes
Awkward alcoves, sloped ceilings, corners that no standard unit fits. We build wardrobes that solve the room, not the other way round — drawers that sit flush, doors that hang true, interiors finished as carefully as the outside. Oak or ash, with real dovetail joints and proper hardware.
Master bedroom alcove
Ash wardrobe with soft-close doors, built to fit a tight corner in a Victorian terraced house. The sloped ceiling meant custom heights — we measured twice, built once.
Guest bedroom storage
Oak wardrobe with open shelving and hanging space, designed to give a small room proper storage without closing it in. Finished in a light oil to show the grain.
Kitchens
A kitchen that actually works — units that sit true, drawers that glide, counters that are level and won't move. We build in solid oak and ash, finished to stand years of real use. Not showroom kitchens. Working kitchens.
Oak kitchen — village cottage
Full run of fitted oak units with a centre island, built to replace an old fitted kitchen. Drawers run on quality slides, doors are mortise and tenon, and nothing wobbles.
Ash kitchen — harbour cottage
Ash units and open shelving for a smaller cottage kitchen, light finished to keep the space open. Every joint visible and built to last.
Staircases
A staircase is not just a way up. It sets the character of a hall, it carries the weight of a house, and it speaks every time someone walks it. We build them in oak or ash to match the age and feel of the house, with proper joinery underneath that no one sees but everyone trusts.
Oak staircase — Victorian terrace
Replacement staircase in solid oak, built to replace an unsafe original. Newels, strings and spindles all mortised and tenoned, finished with traditional detail to match the period of the house.
Ash staircase — new build
New staircase in ash for a modern extension, with open sides and clean lines. Built on a steel core for strength, with ash treads and handrails you can see the grain on.
Sash window restorations
Sash windows that stick, rattle or won't stay open. We restore them in place — rebuilding the frames, replacing broken cords, fitting new glass where needed — keeping the original joinery and character. A sash restored properly will outlive us all.
Terraced house on Dock Lane
Full restoration of six sash windows in a Victorian terraced house near the harbour. New cords, repaired glazing bars, sashes that actually slide. Original frames kept and made good.
Cottage window restorations
Three pairs of sash windows restored in a 1920s cottage, with new weights and pulleys hidden inside the frames. Windows that sit level, don't rattle, and open like they're meant to.
